Collagen Treatments

Board Certified Dermatologist, Dmitry Khasak, MD has been providing collagen treatments to his patients in his Manhattan, New York and Jersey City, New Jersey office for many years.

Collagen is effective in smoothing shallow lines such as those around the lips and corners of the eyelids, and can also be used to fill deeper depressions like the furrows that form after years of smiling and frowning. It also enhances the effect of cosmetic surgery and is ideal for treating younger faces not yet in need of full surgical correction.

Collagen is a naturally occurring protein that provides support to various parts of the human body: the skin, the joints, the bones and the ligaments. Injectable collagen is derived from purified bovine collagen. The collagen is injected by Board Certified Dermatologist, Dmitry Khasak, MD using a fine needle inserted at several points along the edge of the treatment site.

The most important fact to remember about injectable fillers is that the results are not permanent. Injected material is eventually metabolized by the body. You should not expect the same long-lasting results that may be gained from cosmetic surgery.

What Will You Look Like After Your Collagen Treatment?
Immediately following your collagen treatment, you may notice some minor discomfort, stinging or throbbing in the injected area. Occasionally some bruising or swelling will occur, but it is usually minor. Any redness that appears in the injected site usually disappears within 24 hours.

How Many Treatments of Collagen Will I Need?

The duration of the injections varies significantly from patient to patient. Though some patients have reported results lasting a year or more, the majority of patients find that at least half of the injected fullness disappears within 3-6 months. Therefore, repeated injections may be necessary. Board Certified Dermatologist, Dmitry Khasak, MD will advise you on how to maintain your results with repeat treatments.

How Long Will My Collagen Treatment Last?
Collagen is highly successful for short-term use in fine lines and cracks around the mouth and chin. Patients return every 3-6 months for maintenance treatments and the procedure is done in a regular office visit to the dermatologists Manhattan, New York or Jersey City, New Jersey office.

If you have any questions about collagen treatments, feel free to contact Board Certified Dermatologist, Dmitry Khasak, MD at either his Manhattan, New York or Jersey City, New Jersey office.
